Three Tips for Amateur Photographer to Produce Professional Photos

1. Good Scene Photo Taking

To get a good scene, one must clearly understand the photography theme and the things within the view-finder which are compromised by line, the brightness and dimness and so on. You can make the scene neat and aesthetic by changing its focus, angle and light.         

A beautiful photo should have only one focus while the existence of other things is just to highlight the focus. When taking photos, we should make all our efforts to emphasize the focus to make a distinction between the important and the lesser one. In addition, leave some space for the main part so that the photos will look more artistic.      

2. Proper Focus and Depth of Field

I think maybe everyone knows the definition of the focus, but a few people know the depth of field. According to Wikipedia, the definition of depth of field (DOF) is:

      “In optics, particularly as it relates to film and photography, depth of field (DOF) is the distance between the nearest and farthest objects in a scene that appear acceptably sharp in an image.”

The deeper the depth of field is, the clearer the scene far from the focus is; otherwise, the scene more blurred. However, the farther the focus distance is, the deeper the depth of field is; whereas the closer the focus distance is, the more shallow the depth of field is. Therefore, when you shooting some long distance view, choose a relatively larger focus and choose a relatively smaller focus when you shooting some close distance view. It is very clear since the lens focusing distance is shown in cm (centimeters).    

3. Exposure Compensation

What is exposure compensation? In common parlance, it brings a great visual effect to your photos by adjusting the brightness or the dimness of your photos. Even two photos taken from the same angle and with the same focus, they are totally different photos if with different exposure bracketing. So exposure compensation is of importance to produce authentic photos.
